Weekend Classes
Join us for inspiring hands-on art and design classes every weekend! Our programme offers engaging sessions for children in Reception to Year 6.
We introduce a new theme every term and this summer term, our workshops invite children to explore the theme of Nature.
From mapping landscapes and exploring organic structures to green city design and sustainable transport, the students will experiment across different scales and materials, developing their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
When: Sundays | 10:00 - 11:30 am (starting February 16th)
Where: @Chisenhale Studios (map), E3 5QZ, Bow
Explorers
Reception & Year 1-2
Young learners begin their exploration of art, architecture, engineering, and technology through hands-on activities that engage their senses and spark their imagination. They discover shapes, colours, structures, and materials while starting to understand how different elements come together to create spaces and objects. Through projects like model-making and creative construction, they begin to connect the physical world with design and innovation. These activities encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in a fun and supportive environment.

Core Skills Development:
Visual Storytelling: Expressing identity through art and design.
Team Communication: Coordinating and problem-solving in groups.
Cultural Appreciation: Discovering the impact of world traditions on art and design.
Spatial Awareness: Navigating space, scale, and layout through 2D and 3D modeling.
Hands-On Learning: Crafting through drawing, painting, collage, and 3D modeling techniques.
Example Projects:
"Mural: Patterns & Colours"
Inspired by global architecture, young creators will design unique tiles featuring their own patterns and colours. The tiles will come together to create a collaborative mural celebrating creativity and cultural inspiration."Totem: Community Values & Symbols"
Participants will create a group totem inspired by the Nations of the Pacific Northwest, with each piece symbolising shared community values and personal expression."Communal Building"
Inspired by Number 7 Evergreen Street, young creators will design a building where personal spaces reflect their identities, alongside shared green and communal areas that foster connection and a sense of community.
Curriculum Connections:
Mathematics: Shape, space, and measurement in architectural and design contexts.
Science: Materials, properties, and their role in construction and design stability.
Design & Technology: Structure and stability in design, and 3D modeling techniques.
Geography: Environmental and cultural influences on architectural design
Art & Design: Creative mediums (painting, collage, sculpture, 3D modeling) to express design ideas.
History: Architectural and cultural traditions from various regions.
PSHE: Teamwork, collaboration, and appreciation of diversity through collective design work.
Experimenters
Year 3-6
Experimenters, expand their creativity and problem-solving skills through a variety of interdisciplinary projects that connect art, design, engineering, and technology. They explore key concepts such as form, structure, balance, and functionality through imaginative design challenges. By working collaboratively, they develop their critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills, gaining a deeper understanding of how different fields intersect to shape the world around us.
