Townscapes

Young learners explored how architectural patterns reflect cultural identity, climate, and geography—looking at examples from Tudor houses, East African huts, and Latin American adobe homes. The children drew inspiration from Disney artist Mary Blair, whose bold colours and geometric designs influenced their own creative interpretations.

Using pens, coloured paper, and pre-cut shapes, the children decorated cardboard façades with rhythmic patterns and playful motifs. They added translucent coloured sheets to the windows, creating a glowing stained-glass effect that came to life when lit from behind.

Together, we assembled all the buildings into a vibrant townscape—a collaborative artwork full of light, pattern, and imagination.
